I later found out this wasn’t the real fix, the real fix is described in https://github.com/arucard21/Sick-Beard/commit/4bf4712f037179876dd2cc416a7cf0329d22f5e0 , all you need to do is fix the first file
For example Sickbeard won’t work all that great when Sabnzbd can’t communicate, it happened to me when I upgraded my HTPC machine from Ubuntu 14.10 to Ubuntu 15.04. Thankfully, the fix is relatively easy on Ubuntu/Debian, we just have to create our own certificate using a few simple steps:
openssl req -new -x509 -days 3650 -nodes -out sickbeard.pem -keyout sickbeard.key
It doesn’t matter what you use, I just used the defauls. One line is important:
Common Name (e.g. server FQDN or YOUR name) []:localhost
Just a few simple steps are left which I found in /usr/share/doc/ca-certicates/README.Debian which I will repeat here:
How to install local CA certificates
——————————————————————
If you want to install local certificate authorities to be implicitly trusted, please put the certificate files as single files ending with “.crt” into /usr/local/share/ca-certificates/ and re-run ‘update-ca-certificates’. If you remove local certificates from /usr/local/share/ca-certificates/, you can remove symlinks by running ‘update-ca-certificates –fresh’. If you want to prepare a local package of your certificates, you should depend on ca-certificates, install the PEM files into /usr/local/share/ca-certificates/ as above and call ‘update-ca-certificates’ in the package’s postinst, and should call ‘update-ca-certificates –fresh’ in the package’s postrm.
So all you need to do is copy the sickbeart.pem to /usr/local/share/ca-certificates/ after which you run update-ca-certificates . All that is left now is learning Sickbeard he has a new certificate, just go into the home directory of sickbeard and find server.crt & server.key. Replace these, including their name with the files we have just generated. We haven’t generated a .crt file, but this is just a simple rename of the .pem file, nothing more as you can see when you look at the content of both files.
So there you go, after this, and a restart of both programs, Sabnzbd and Sickbeard should like each other again.
